About
For the first implementation of our hands-on STEM kits, we created a geology kit for a sixth grade classroom at James Martin Middle School on February 14, 2025. In these kits we worked along two sixth grade science teacher, Ms. Sutton and Ms. Bennah to create a STEM kit students would both gain knowledge of the properties of rocks types (igneous, sedimentary, metamorphic), and how they are formed. We designed a geology kit where students get to follow along a magical rock heist to find a magical necklace taken from Shayla, who in this STEM kit is a magical crystal. Students got to follow along the kit using their knowledge on geology, that they had learned previously in their classroom to match the rocks properties, formation, and type to the names of the possible thief. We are unable to show images of students working on the kit, but we do have an image of what the kit itself looks like in our portfolio, we have more images of the kit to come. Make sure to stay up to date!
